Have you heard about the new VAT tax?

So on top of income tax we add this to the Global Warming tax, the cigarette tax… and folks, I gotta tell ya:

I lived in Europe for more than ten years. From the time I first moved there, the country I lived in, was starting to move AWAY from Socialism. That was twenty years ago. I must mention it, because you don’t hear that.

Socialism is unsustainable. You get the prosperous international companies paying the taxes to support peoples beer and cigarette money, and a whole lot more. (Welfare checks cover the VAT and other consumption taxes).

Since there are more bums than successful corporate executives and their employees, eventually the weight of sustaining a bloated bureaucracy and welfare state, busts the system. The Europeans are too smart to let that happen, so years ago they started becoming more like America.

Even in France they elected Sakozy. Obama probably knows this, but the media don’t seem to know or care. Therefore the Democrat voters don’t know or care.

Obamanomics is a jihad against Capitalism. It’s a mass suicide attack.

Maybe it will be the opposite of wine and cheese, and six week vacations. More like 1984…

But probably we we will end up completely “multi-cultural.” We will just be another Third World country.

memorial day: talking to the dead

Is there Internet in heaven? Why should we not talk to the dead, I talk to the brain-dead all the time.

To the heroes of the U.S. Armed Forces I would say thanks for killing the enemy. For killing Nazis, commies and muji scumbags. For doing it so well, you were forced to give your precious lives. Doing that, you gave life to others. You have died for human rights and liberty. We will celebrate you while we bask in these things. The celebration will end when these things are gone.

when do they start rounding us up?

Posted in liberals, obama era, politics, word-drum with tags , , , , on May 12, 2009 by Word-Drum

I have no doubt that virtually every liberal I know would support the government if they started to round up conservatives. If they shot us all in the head, or marched us into ovens, it would cause no protest from today’s liberals.

roesgenMost would not want to know what happened to us. It would not be “reported” by the media, since they are all liberal Democrats and have not “reported” very much in the past, and are invested in the current political power structure.
                                                      wearing Obama panties

Wishing death on their political enemies is par for the course with the liberals who think they are better than everyone else. They have no shame or conscience, and even though they all take drugs, they criticize Rush Limbaugh for his past drug use.

2114etxBut we all know Obama used drugs “enthusiastically.” He wrote that when he could afford it, he used cocaine. With his book sales, the Smoking Room in the White House could look like Scar Face’s office, with mounds of coke on the President’s desk.

And just for that, they would gladly torture me. They are not against torture as they proclaim. After all, for the last seven years they have all been SADDAM HUSSEIN DEFENDERS. Liberals scream and cry if anyone should bother or inconvenience any Al Qaeda or Taliban member — who routinely torture and murder their victims.

Yes, liberals are cruel and mean, no matter what they think of themselves. With their Third World mentality, they have no respect for the rule of law.

Like every revolutionary of the Left, Obama says he is for “change.” He said he wants to transform our republic. We are no longer a Christian Nation he said, and without God, the government will replace Him with Socialized medicine and Nationalized banks and businesses. Is National Socialism “the change we need?“

The Left’s intolerance that has been spread to most liberals, will not lead to anything good. Those not willing to “come together” under a Leftist government are being marked for destruction. That fate brings no pain of regret from the average Obama supporter. They have compassion for Islamo-Nazis murders and warmongers, communists, child molesters and other criminals. But any American who challenges them must be destroyed. That’s the message. Message received.

“Compulsion” – Davis – New York, 30.1.1953 –
Miles Davis Sextet:
Miles Davis: Trumpet
Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins: Tenor sax
Walter Bishop: Piano
Percy Heath: Bass
“Philly” Joe Jones: Drums

Bird on tenor! A young Philly Joe! Bird and Rollins sound much alike. Big surprise. Charlie Parker takes the first tenor solo, Rollins is next, in this rare recording.

obama’s cool – towards israel

Haaretz: Jerusalem worried over breakdown of U.S.-Israel cooperation under Obama by Aluf Ben and Barak Ravid

“Senior officials in Jerusalem expressed concern recently over the sharp decline in the coordination between Israel and the United States on security and state affairs since President Barack Obama’s entered the White House and especially since the formation of Israel’s new government.

Senior White House officials told their Israeli counterparts that Obama will demand Netanyahu completely suspend construction in the settlements, the officials said.

“Obama’s people brief their Israeli counterparts in advance much less about security and Middle East policy activities than the Bush administration used to,” the officials said.

In addition, when they do brief Israeli officials, they don’t consult with them or coordinate their statements in advance.

This has caused several coordination “malfunctions” between the two states in the past two months, they said.

The last incident was the statement of Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller, calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The statement had not been coordinated with Israeli officials in charge of the nuclear issue and they heard it first from the media.

This followed other equally problematic incidents. The American policy shift toward Syria and opening direct talks with Damascus followed minimal coordination with Israel. For example, Israel was not briefed about senior American diplomats’ trip to Damascus, which the U.S. had initiated.

Another incident concerned U.S. envoy for Iranian affairs Dennis Ross’ trip to the Gulf states a few days ago for talks on Iran. Israel was briefed on the trip in general details, but no consultations or message-coordination took place before the trip. In addition, Ross did not pass through Israel on his way to the Gulf or back to brief Israel on the talks’ outcome.

The American policy toward Iran has remained generally ambiguous as far as Israel is concerned and the administration has not outlined to Israel its plan for a dialogue with Iran in an orderly way. Many of the details Israel learned about this plan were obtained via European channels.

DebkaFile: Obama’s SOS to Gulf emirs: Invest in US and global economies

“A secret American delegation was sent by US President Barack Obama this week to solicit Saudi Arabian and other Gulf rulers for hundreds of billions of petro-dollars of investment in the US and global economic stimulus plans, DEBKAfile’s exclusive Gulf sources report. They came away empty-handed.”

“The chilly welcome received by the delegation, which met finance ministers and the heads of banks in Riyadh and the five emirates, was generated by wide disapproval of the US president’s policy of engagement with Iran. Two other US missions had just been and gone, headed by defense secretary Robert Gates and special adviser to the US secretary of state for South Asia and Gulf affairs, Dennis Ross. Both failed to allay Gulf anger and trepidation over this policy.”

Now it’s the guitar, in the first part of the 20th century, it was the tenor saxophone. The instrument that is the sound of the time. Sonny and Trane were the two greatest tenor players of their time. Rollins, the culmination of jazz history from Coleman Hawkins to Charlie Parker; and Coltrane, the transcendent explorer and new voice for his generation, and the future of music.

Here is a live version of the early Mothers. You might notice that Zappa proceeded the whole “Downtown” music scene and surpassed them long before they finished school. John Zorn eat your heart out. We hear the theme from “Pound For A Brown” which is orchestrated in the following video.

Near the end of his life, Zappa had his own orchestra in Paris. The Ensemble Modern (conduted by Peter Rundel) was something the young composer had to do without. The version of this composition on Uncle Meat has a certain charm. He might of originally done it orchestrally if he could. I prefere the early studio version, and the early Mothers of Invention of the late 60s.

Stravinsky is all over this piece. Frank’s orchestral music from that period sounds much more influenced by Edgar Varese. But Stravinsky was part of Zappa’s music. His melodies as much as the changing meters and pulsations reminicient of Igor Stravinsky. He took all the influences, including the experimental conceptual period he was part of in the 60s, and created his own style and musical legacy. He is one of America’s greatest composers, having redefined what that means.

The following two videos feature Zappa’s guitar playing. “Willie The Pimp,” with Capatain Beefheart, is a classic. “Black Napkins” is new to me. It shows the influence of The Mahavishnu Orchestra and John McLaughlin.
