Common Sense Today
Does anyone in our government have common sense today?
You wouldn’t think so when you hear the kinds of things they say.
Maybe we need to republish common sense by Thomas Paine,
It makes you wonder if anyone in our government has a brain.
And people today will let anything go that doesn’t affect their comfort zone,
And when the socialist laws are past, then you will hear them moan.
We could do something about it now if they would be aware,
When you see what they’re doing, it’ll make you despair.
But we need to get involved now before it’s too late,
And then you can do nothing but accept your fate.
I’m not for or against any one political party,
We have to get busy and not be tardy.
Each time there is an attack they pass a new law,
They have hidden agenda’s that will cause our fall.
They want to take away our God given rights,
When I think about it, it keeps me up nights.
They want more power and more control, you see,
They want to control our lives and our economy.
As power, money, and our rights flow up to them,
Then anyone against them, they will condemn.
So you see, we need a “Common Sense” for today,
The ideals of freedom are what it needs to convey.
And it needs to point out where our leaders go astray,
And it has to be truthful and a well written essay.
Who would write such a pamphlet in this day and age,
And would it properly inspire others to set the stage.
For people to demand our freedoms like our founders did,
Then all these Marxist ideals, we would be rid.
Well, hopefully this poem will for now suffice,
I’ve tried to make it truthful, short and concise.
I hope it will stir people to open their eyes,
And defeat this modern Marxism in disguise.
