on the day

He saw the headline and winced.

He left the house quickly and went to the Democratic Party office down the street. Soon it would be dangerous to not be a Party member. His philosophy was to blend in. Besides, no one knows what you are actually thinking.

It was enough that he had joined the party of his choosing for the last several years. He did it to buck up old George W. Bush, who was being savaged.

Now things were different. And there were so many things to do. He spent an hour on the phone with the welfare office. It took that long to get an appointment. All he had to bring was a bank statement showing a balance of less than $2,000. That was no problem.

Not that he was a useless piece of garbage that could not survive on his own. But his talents were more appreciated in big cities and foreign countries. But he had enough of that.

Better to be a Patriot than an Ex-Patriot. Also it was now better to keep it to yourself and see what opportunity the future brings.

He was always intrigued by Obama’s “Civilian Defense Corps.” When that starts he was determined to join. His plan was to work his way up in the Party. Firmly established, he would request a position in the new corps.

Meanwhile he would resurrect his old songs with their pseudo-revolutionary themes, compose new ones and apply for grants from the National Endowment For The Arts.

He had planned on doing that ten years earlier when he returned from Europe. But his ideology was changing and finally settled in at conservative, and he knew that would not fly with the NEA.

The Old Reverse Cloward and Piven

Do you have a plan? Will you join him as he drains every cent from the Federal Government and whatever they can continue to borrow. It won’t take long. When they run out of money they will come for yours. Don’t be stuck at end of the food line. Join the Party, join the Corps. And one day we’ll meet and decide our next move.
